Language is more than communication—it is identity, heritage, and connection. On International Mother Language Day 2025, UNFPA Sri Lanka joined the High Commission of Bangladesh in Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Education in commemorating the significance of linguistic diversity and inclusion.
Delivering a message on behalf of UN Sri Lanka, UNFPA Sri Lanka Representative Kunle Adeniyi emphasized the critical role of language in fostering inclusive and peaceful societies, and in upholding human rights. He highlighted that preserving mother tongues is vital not only for maintaining cultural diversity but also for advancing sustainable development and ensuring that no one is left behind.
As a strong advocate for inclusive communication and equity, UNFPA Sri Lanka reaffirms its commitment to language as a tool for empowerment and connection.
